Osher Foundation Initiative In support of Las Positas College

The Osher Initiative Scholarship Endowment supports student success and opportunity by creating a permanent fund for scholarships, offering long-term relief to the rising costs that keep many students from completing their education.

Launched on May 6, 2008, by a generous $25 to $50 million commitment from The Bernard Osher Foundation - the largest gift ever made to a community college system - and spearheaded by the California Community Colleges and the Foundation for California Community Colleges, this effort includes an historic three-year matching fundraising campaign to create a $100 million endowment that will touch the lives of thousands of Community College students each year, safeguarding the promise of an education for future generations.

As part of this program, Las Positas College is offering two ways to help deserving students in the Tri-Valley:

• Every two dollars invested in the Osher Initiative Scholarship Endowment through Las Positas College will be matched with one dollar by the Osher Foundation. These investments, when pooled with other support totaling $13,500 in "new money" will enable LPC to offer a yearly $1000 Osher scholarship in perpetuity.
• The Initiative has created a unique opportunity to establish $1000 named scholarships for deserving students in perpetuity. The one-time investment for a named scholarship is just $13,500. The scholarship can be named for an individual, group or business and can be directed to a specific discipline or directed to a worthy student in any program at the College.

Please consider supporting the students of Las Positas College through this transformative Initiative created by the Bernard Osher Foundation. The beneficiaries will be individual students at LPC but also all of us in the Tri-Valley whose lives those students will touch.
